JawaPos.com – A person with symptoms of cough that does not go away, cough with blood and shortness of breath must be alert. Because it can be suspected to be one of the symptoms of lung cancer.
In the 2021 World Lung Cancer Day webinar with PT Takeda Indonesia, Anatomical Pathology Specialist Dharmais Cancer Hospital dr. Evlina Suzanna Sinuraya, Sp.PA, explained the common symptoms that can be recognized as a cough that doesn’t go away, coughing up blood, chest pain to shortness of breath, drastic weight loss, headaches, and bone pain. In general, lung cancer is usually grouped into two main types.
“They are small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC),” he said online recently.
Then what’s the difference?
According to dr. Evlina, this type of lung cancer grows differently and is treated differently. But basically, NSCLC is more common than SCLC. He added, the symptoms of lung cancer can be different for each person.
“It could be directly related to the lungs, but if the cancer has spread, then the symptoms will be more specific to the part of the body affected by the spread,” he said.
