Al Ain, 1st November / WAM / The Department of Private Law at the College of Law at the UAE University organized a symposium entitled “Protecting Personal Data, Enhancing Digital Security and Trust” in the presence of His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Supreme President of the United Arab Emirates University, With the participation of a number of researchers, experts, and jurists in a number of public institutions in the country, and a large presence of faculty members, department directors, and students at the university.
Dr. Habiba Saif Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Symposium, stressed that the issue of data security is gaining great importance in various fields, especially in the digital environment, which has come to affect the lives of individuals and institutions in most aspects, and that the importance of personal data requires integrated legislation to protect it, and to spread confidence and reassurance in it. Safety and security of virtual space.
Dr. Habiba Al Shamsi also highlighted the Federal Law on Personal Data Protection and its role in preserving the rights of data subjects, and explained the obligations of those responsible for processing that data, whether in the public or private sector.
For his part, Professor Dr. Imad Al-Dahiyat, Head of the Private Law Department, explained the importance of discussing these issues in light of the rapid technical development in the field of information security, to shed light on contemporary issues, laws and legislation.
At the end of the symposium, a dialogue took place between the lecturers and the attendees, during which all inquiries related to the protection of private data in various fields were answered.
