Symposium Celebrates 50 Years of Vietnamese-Japanese Relations in Dà Nang

Interventions by Vietnamese and Japanese researchers on the relations between the two countries in many fields such as history, culture, diplomacy, security and defence, the economy, the financing of public aid for development, the education, agriculture, digital transformation, regional cooperation…, were presented during the symposium.

According to the permanent vice-president of the People’s Committee of Dà Nang, Ho Ky Minh, his city has established relations of friendship and official cooperation with four Japanese cities which are Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama and Kisarazu.

In addition, Japan ranks first in terms of registered investment in Dà Nang with one billion USD in 222 projects, accounting for 23.5% of the number of projects and 26% of foreign capital in the city.

Moreover, trade between the two sides reached 1.170 million USD in 2022, actively contributing to trade between the two countries.

At the same time, the city cooperates closely with Japan in the fields of culture, education and tourism. Many cultural exchange activities have taken place between the two sides. Dà Nang has also established cooperations with Japanese universities and educational institutions to promote relationships in education and human resource training.

In addition, Dà Nang tourism attracts a large number of Japanese tourists, contributing to the economic and tourist development of the largest city in Central Vietnam.

Within the framework of the symposium, a forum entitled “Vietnam-Japan Relations: Looking to the Future” was held, with the participation of several leading experts on Vietnamese-Japanese relations.
