Yesterday, the government held an emergency meeting of the National Security Council Standing Committee led by National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik and discussed response measures in response to North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia and participation in the war in Ukraine.

The government called for the immediate withdrawal of North Korea’s weapons and announced that it would take strong action with the international community if the current military cooperation between North Korea and Russia.

At the same time, he stressed that step-by-step response measures will be implemented according to the progress of North Korea-Russia military cooperation after the deployment of North Korean combat troops.

He said he will work closely with allies and friendly countries to ensure strong and effective measures are implemented.

In particular, he explained, in preparation for the possibility that cooperation between Russia and North Korea could develop into a situation that poses a serious threat to our security, we will conduct a comprehensive review of conditions that may exist and we will prepare corresponding measures.

North Korea reacted harshly after issuing a statement late in the afternoon under the name of Kim Yo-jong, the vice-chairman of the Workers’ Party.

Vice Minister Kim said in his statement that he had made hateful comments against a nuclear state that could not be reversed.

At the same time, he threatened that only by seeing it for yourself will you know how dangerous Seoul has become and how deadly the impact it has made on itself.

He also said that the North Korean investigative authorities’ investigation into the drone that came from South Korea is continuing and that the truth will be investigated in more detail.

Since he repeatedly claimed drone infiltration from Pyongyang and poured out harsh criticism targeting South Korea and Ukraine, it can be interpreted as a tit-for-tat response to South Korea’s claim to the international community to respond to the sending of Russian troops.
