Symbolically marked in the concert garden “Blow, winds!” dragonfly festival

According to the tradition of the dragonfly festival – a wreath was raised in the roof choir, as well as the owners – representatives of Liepāja City Council and Executive Directorate – solemnly thanked the builders, giving the workers a restored historical and legendary stage bench.

The restoration works of the bench were performed by Liepāja artist Reinis Kuncītis. The festive moment was also honored by the presence of the legendary musicians Uldis Marhilēvičs and Aivars Hermanis.

“Concert Garden” Blow, winds! ” construction is a big and expected event for all of us from Liepaja. At present, about half of the planned works have been completed and we are very much looking forward to the unveiling of this symbol of Liepāja’s music and free thinkers, ”said Ronalds Fricbergs, Executive Director of Liepāja City Municipality.

The new concert garden “Blow, winds!” is being developed into a modern cultural space that will be accessible to the population. It will be possible to organize open-air events and concerts for a larger number of visitors than before, as well as provide more comfortable conditions for both artists and spectators.

“The fences and barriers that used to cover the stage were demolished, integrating the concert garden in the territory of Jūrmala Park and connecting it with the beach coastal zone, as well as redesigned squares and paths to ensure full accessibility of the environment,” says Zita Lazdāne.

Currently, the construction of roads in the territory is underway. A fence is being built around the stage to ensure controlled attendance at concerts. Windows and doors are installed in the building, as well as top roof metal structures. By the beginning of the summer, it is planned to fully complete the construction of the roof structures above the seats of the central part of the spectators.

The total costs of the object are 2,306,438 euros, including ERDF – 800,000 euros, state budget grant to local governments – 35,294 euros and local government co-financing – 1,471,144 euros.

Concert garden “Blow, winds!” planned to open in 2022.
