Sylvie Vartan: the icon of a whole generation
Johnny Hallyday was said to be the idol of young people, and he even made a song out of it. Sylvie Vartan has undoubtedly been his feminine inclination. The famous singer, now 77 years old, is one of the biggest French singing stars of any generation. And yet, nothing suggested that such would be his fate!
Indeed, the famous singer was born in Bulgaria, and only arrived in France during her childhood. She learns French late, which she masters very quickly. At the age of 17, Sylvie Vartan recorded her first single, titled When the Film is Sad. It was a great success which earned him the opening act of Gilbert Bécaud, then Johnny Hallyday. The current goes rather well between the two idols, since they get married and have a child, the singer David Hallyday. However, their romantic relationship ended up not working. The two singers separated in 1980.

Sylvie Vartan and Johnny Hallyday have gone through hardships. However, one of them almost cost them their lives. Objeko takes you back in time to 1970. At that time, the two lovebirds are still together. They are by car, on the road which connects Strasbourg to Belfort. In their car are also the guitarist Mick Jones, and Sacha Rhoul, private secretary of Taulier. Johnny, who is driving the vehicle, loses control on an icy road. The car crashes into a tree. Johnny’s nose is broken, but Sylvie Vartan’s head goes through the windshield.
She is totally disfigured, and must undergo a heavy cosmetic surgery operation. The surgeons of the time did a remarkable job, barely noticeable. The singer returned to this subject on RTL at the microphone of Karine Le Marchand: “Honestly, I recognized myself. I wasn’t that badly banged up. Well, I had scars, yes, but it was normal. Over time, they have faded a bit. But I was so happy to be alive, because I had a child, I had people who loved me, and that was the priority above all. It was to be alive”.
Fortunately, this accident did not prevent her from being the most beautiful to go dancing! Two years earlier, the singer had already had another car accident, where her best friend Mercedes had tragically lost her life. In both cases, the seat belt was not yet compulsory.
