Sylvie Deparis, an artist on the water

From September 17 to November 30, at the Thau pond museum, Sylvie Deparis exhibits her works. She is also exhibiting at the same time at the Jardin antique Méditerranéen, accompanied by texts by Joël-Claude Meffre. “The two themes of the exhibitions are different, she explains, but the way I look at the two places is strongly marked by the presence of the pond, the water, the fluidity. “

Fluidity of the weft and interlacing, moving surfaces of the waters of the pond, its seagrass, continuous or discontinuous wefts of the nets, sensation of the flow, lines that animate the continuous fabric of forms, Sylvie’s works Deparis, facing the pond, are soothing, relaxing and beautiful.

Influenced by Far Eastern Thought

Sylvie Deparis is a visual artist and publisher of artists’ books. Very influenced by Far Eastern thought, she says: “While working on the net, I saw the interweaving of the lines: the weft is initially regular, but what happens when the net becomes wild again? At the Jardin Antique, I worked on the idea that when one drew while walking, the point of view of the drawing was mobile, and again, in a permanent transformation. “

Sylvie Deparis regularly exhibits in galleries, media libraries or art centers and has been traveling for several years in Asia, China, Korea, Japan, where she participates in artist residencies. “I find in Asia an echo of my own approach, that is to say to apprehend the universe as a unit”, she concludes.
