Impossible to forget the face of Stella Guitton the day after the murder of her mother: filmed by France Bleu Alsace on the morning of November 11, 2019, she expressed her anger, her eyes red with tears: “It has been three or four years since she has been beaten up, she never wanted to speak out of fear for herself and for her. defend it. We can see where it leads today ”. Less than a year and a half later, Thursday January 13 and Friday January 14, Jacky Walter will be tried by the Strasbourg Assize Court. Sylvia Auchter’s ex-husband is accused of spousal murder. He faces a life sentence.
“A flagrant lack of empathy”
“He recognized the facts, but there is a flagrant lack of empathy on the part of the accused,” says the lawyer for the civil parties, including the daughter and two sisters of Sylvia Auchter, Me Maxime Bordron. According to him, “the accused took refuge behind alcohol and amnesia. He was known to have heavy alcohol, and that night he was alcoholic. He speaks of madness following the insults of his wife… It is very vague. ”
The trial is scheduled to last two days. During the first day, the summary of the file, the order of indictment, the description of the personality of the accused will be read. Jacky Walter will then be questioned about his personality and his past. The relatives of the accused will also be heard, as will direct witnesses of the feminicide, such as Stella Guitton, her companion and a friend.
The next day, the psychiatrists and psychologists and the forensic pathologist will summarize their report. Jacky Walter will then be questioned about the unfolding of the facts, before the lawyers’ pleadings.
“They are still waiting for explanations”
“This trial will allow Sylvia Auchter’s daughter and sisters to mourn. Faced with the silence of the accused, they are still waiting for explanations that they did not necessarily have during the investigation. It is really a very important process, hence the fact that they have been waiting for this trial for many months, ”says Me Maxime Bordron.
Following the feminicide, the director general of the national police had ordered a report from the General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie (IGGN). According to Stella Guitton’s lawyer, who had access to this audit, “the investigations made did not reveal any major failings which could have resulted in the responsibility of the gendarmes. ”
Contacted, the lawyer for the accused Jacky Walter did not respond to our request for an interview.
