Sye-gyun Jeong “Review of AZ vaccine vaccination over 65 years of age”

Prime Minister Chung Sye-gyun on the 3rd, referring to an overseas case of expanding the vaccination of AstraZeneca (AZ), instructed the quarantine authorities to reconsider the vaccination over 65 years old. About 400,000 people over 65 years of age in nursing hospitals and facilities excluded from the top priority vaccination targets are also likely to receive the AZ vaccine from the second quarter. At a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the same day, Prime Minister Chung ordered that “Korea reserves AstraZeneca vaccinations to people over 65, but the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should once again gather expert opinions as there are changes in each country’s policies.”

Goyang·Pyeongtaek AZ vaccine killed 2 people
I can’t confirm if it’s a vaccine side effect.

– Last month, researchers at the University of Edinburgh in the UK surveyed AZ vaccine vaccinators, and found that the risk of hospitalization was reduced by 80% in the elderly aged 65 and over. Accordingly, France, which nailed the age of AZ vaccine to be less than 65 years old, decided to inoculate even 65-74 years old a day. Foreign media reported that Germany will soon release a new recommendation to allow the AZ vaccine to the elderly as well.

Meanwhile, two people died for the first time on the 3rd, the sixth day of vaccination. They are in their 50s and 60s who were hospitalized in nursing hospitals in Goyang-si and Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do. They showed abnormal symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, and fever after vaccination with the AZ vaccine. These are people with underlying diseases with Parkinson’s disease or cerebrovascular disease.

Commissioner Chung explained through an emergency briefing that “there is a plan to conduct an epidemiological investigation with the local government to confirm the association with vaccination.” Chung said, “There have been no cases of death from Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines in countries around the world.”
