SWR2 Early Music More than “small mastery”

The Darmstadt court music director Christoph Graupner (1683 – 1760) stipulated in his will that all of his compositions should be destroyed after his death. Fortunately, the execution of the will was not taken too seriously. Since Graupner’s year in 1983, his music has experienced a renaissance; not least through the Kirchheim concert winter in the Palatinate. The founder and musical director of the festival, Dominik Wörner, is also a singer and interpreter of these forgotten cantatas. In the conversation he talks about the compositions, but also the complex processing and excavation.
