While fresh snow is expected in the Alps, there will be strong winds again in the lowlands. In the afternoon, peak gusts of between 50 km/h and over 90 km/h were measured, as “Meteo News” writes. In the mountains there were even hurricane gusts.
In the evening there will be rain, thunder and lightning locally. Pictures and videos on social media show white landscapes after heavy hailstorms.
The first few flashes erupted around noon on Lake Geneva and in Schaffhausen, and more thunderstorm cells followed in the afternoon on the north side of the Alps, as MeteoSwiss, the Federal Office for Meteorology and Climatology, announced.

For parts of the Swiss Alps, meanwhile, there is a high risk of avalanches. The second highest warning level applies to the northern ridge of the Alps west of the Reuss and Lower Valais.
