Switzerland Takes on World Stage as Chair of UN Security Council in May

Standing on the world stage – Swiss politicians rarely get this chance enough. Now it’s here: in May, three federal councilors are flying to the UN headquarters in New York. Switzerland will preside over the Security Council for the next four weeks. This results in numerous opportunities for appearances by the dignitaries from Switzerland. Members of the government can take part in meetings of the Security Council at any time. For example, Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis took part in high-level debates in January and February.
