There are a total of 4,550 seats in 100 carriages. True, the train’s only journey lasted just an hour, when on October 29 it measured a 25-kilometer journey through the Alps, along a scenic route included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Renato Fasciati, managing director of the Rhaetian Railway, says communication between the drivers was quite difficult. A field telephone wire almost two kilometers long was torn, seven train drivers and 21 technicians were working on the train.
After departure, it was decided to divide the train into separate parts, which will be used for normal and regular traffic. The previous record for the longest train was 1,732.9 metres, set in 1991 in Belgium.
