The snow which fell generously before Christmas followed by persistent sunshine was the delight of winter sports resorts, in French-speaking Switzerland and overseas. Attendance was excellent, sometimes even record, during the holiday season.
Different resorts in the Vaud and Valais Alps have benefited from an extraordinary crowd. Thus, Anzère (VS) announces “a historic record season”.
“We had more than 5,000 customers a day four times during these holidays, while the previous record was 4,800 last year,” Sébastien Travelletti, chairman of the board of directors of Télé Anzère, told Keystone-ATS , returning to information from different media.
The Valais ski area saw no fewer than 5,700 winter sports enthusiasts on December 30, a new record. “The snow was top, the weather incredible and the temperature inversion has attracted many customers aloft who enjoy the terraces,” added Sébastien Travelletti.
The Magic Pass effect

“The snowfall was excellent and everything had been open since mid-December,” he added, referring to an “ideal scenario” with two weeks of sunshine over the holidays, not too cold temperatures and well-kept terraces.

Besides Sarine also, satisfaction is essential. “These were the best end of year celebrations of the decade,” said Peter Reinle, director of marketing for the Titlis Ski Lift in Engelberg (OW).
For the month of December as a whole, the increase was 4% compared to last year and 13% over the average for the last five years. The beginning of January promises to be the same.
The Flumserberg (SG), 2000 meters above sea level between Zurich and Chur, above Lake Walenstadt, also signals a particular crowd, with up to 13,000 people per day, according to marketing director Katja Wildhaber . There too, the mild temperatures at altitude explains this enthusiasm.
