Switzerland is still considering closing its skies

The Swiss authorities have not yet decided whether to close the airspace over Geneva during the summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, TASS reported.

The agency referred to the official representative of the Swiss Federal Ministry of Defense, Population Protection and Sports, Stefan Hofer.

“I cannot confirm this because the Federal Council has not yet made a decision on this assumption. There is no formal decision,” Hofer said.

Earlier, the media reported that the Swiss authorities are preparing enhanced security measures for the upcoming meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States in Geneva, in particular, details are being developed for complete or partial blocking of the airspace.

On May 25, the Kremlin and the White House confirmed that the heads of state would meet on June 16 in Geneva. US leader Joe Biden offered to hold talks in a third country during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, which took place in April this year.
