Toll regulations >3.5t

In Switzerland, heavy vehicle information is differentiated between LSVA and PSVA.

Performance-dependent heavy vehicle information (LSVA)

LSVA stands for “performance-dependent heavy vehicle information” (truck toll) and applies to vehicles that exceed a permissible total weight of 3.5t or are used to transport goods. The tariff depends on the total weight, the emission class and the kilometers driven.

Flat-rate heavy vehicle tax (PSVA)

PSVA stands for “flat rate heavy vehicle tax” and applies to vehicles such as heavy passenger cars, heavy mobile homes and caravans, buses and tractors. Here you have to pay a flat rate. As with the LSVA, this does not depend on performance.

Attach the adhesive vignette correctly

In Switzerland, close attention is paid to how the vignette was attached to or in your vehicle. The police in Switzerland sometimes impose fines for vignettes that were not attached correctly.

This is how an adhesive vignette should be attached in Switzerland:

  • The vignette may only be used on the Inside of the windshield (vignettes on the rear window or side window are considered invalid).
  • Stick the vignette behind the rearview mirror or on the left side of the disc (not in the tint strips if present).
  • For vehicles without a windshield, the vignette is required glued to a part that is difficult to replace on a motorcycle, for example on the tank (excluding the tank cap) or the fork leg.
  • The vignette must without any aids Stick it to the windshield (do not use adhesive strips or anything else).
  • There is often an explanation of how to attach the vignette on the back of the vignette.

Please ensure that you regularly remove your expired vignettes from previous years, as too many vignettes on your vehicle can also lead to a fine due to a lack of visibility.
