The Friborg Security Police celebrates its 100th anniversary. Today, it has nearly 140 inspectors and civilian personnel, compared to only seven inspectors in 1920. A comic strip recalls some major cases.
The history of the security police in the canton of Friborg goes back a century. The opportunity for Philippe Allain, commander of the cantonal police, Marc Andrey, divisional commissioner and chief of the safety police, to retrace the main lines Wednesday before the press at Granges-Paccot, headquarters of the cantonal police.
On May 12, 1920, the Grand Council adopted the law establishing a body of security officers, staffed by seven inspectors. A hundred years later, the Security Police has nearly 140 inspectors and civilian personnel, men and women. To mark the event, a comic strip, with six Friborg co-authors, left the press.
In the countryside, the security police have long been called “The Secret”. The book “Mémoires de la Secrète” brings back to the fore six famous cases that have marked the lives of the Friborg people.
Drama of the solar temple
Among them are the double murder of Maracon, the epic of the Matran bandits, the discovery of a heroin processing laboratory at the Paccots and the dramatic history of the Order of the Solar Temple (OTS). A historical narrative completes the century of existence.
Various events are planned, including a participation in the BDmania festival in November in Belfaux (FR). The objectives of the organizing committee are to mark the jubilee with a white stone, but also to give citizens the opportunity to immerse themselves in the work of the Friborg judicial police.
The official day will take place on May 12 at the Gutenberg Museum in Fibourg. Guests will then be able to preview the first of the two exhibitions scheduled at this location and attend the opening of the comic strip.
