Beach soccer: Switzerland wins the 2023 home game 7-1
For the second year in a row, the Swiss national beach soccer team played and won its annual home game on August 1st in Aarau.
As on Swiss National Day 2022 (8-5 against France), and exactly a month to the day after winning the gold medal at the 2023 European Games, Switzerland prevailed again, this year with an unchallenged 7-1 win over Denmark .
Noel Ott (2x), Glenn Hodel, Nicolas Stäuble, Tobias Steinemann, Sandro Spaccarotella and Michael Rodrigues were responsible for the Swiss goals. Double goal scorer Ott (29) was also honored for his 200th international match in the red and white dress.
Despite the partially pouring rain, this match also enjoyed a high number of spectators; like 12 months ago, the mobile stadium in the outdoor pool in Schachen was full.
National coach Angelo Schirinzi after the end of the game: “Great atmosphere, even though it was raining through. It’s always nice to play at home in front of family and friends. And of course the result also matched the successful performance”.
National player and Aargau, Tobias Steinemann in a video interview: “A home game on August 1 is a great honor”
For Switzerland, things continue between September 18th and 24th in the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal (quasi the Beach Soccer European Championship). In Sardinia, the 2022 European champion will try to successfully defend his title against continental competition.
