Switzerland has banned Germany from transferring ammunition used in the Marder infantry fighting vehicle to Ukraine, the Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung reported. The agency writes Reuters.

The Swiss edition, citing a representative of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), writes that Germany twice sent requests for permission to transfer ammunition purchased in Switzerland to Ukraine. The answer to both requests was negative.
Switzerland refers to the fact that it is neutral and cannot supply weapons to countries where hostilities continue.
The Marder infantry fighting vehicle is armed with a 20 mm automatic tank gun and a NATO caliber 7.62×51 machine gun.
- On April 23, it became known that the manufacturer of the BMP Marder, the German concern Rheinmetall, sent an official request for the supply of 100 armored vehicles to Ukraine.
- Earlier, Germany consistently refused to provide Ukraine with weapons to protect against Russian aggression and blocked the supply of weapons to Kyiv through NATO.
