Switzerland has delayed arms deliveries to Ukraine by blocking two German requests to re-export Swiss-made ammunition. They are used in Marder infantry fighting vehicles, which Kyiv would like to receive. About it informs British edition of Reuters.

A representative of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs said that he had received two requests from Germany for the transfer of ammunition received from Switzerland to Ukraine. However, both requests were answered in the negative, the speaker argued this by the neutrality of the country.

“Both German requests were answered in the negative, citing Swiss neutrality and the mandatory waiver criteria under the war material law,” the spokesman said.

The German Marder fighting vehicle uses Swiss-made ammunition. Switzerland restricts the re-export of such military equipment to the zones of military conflicts.

On April 22, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to hand over weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, in the near future the Ukrainian military will receive anti-tank weapons, mines and ammunition for artillery. In addition, Berlin insists on the need to transfer Soviet weapons to Kyiv.

Earlier March 16 Switzerland imposed sanctions against Russia. 200 individuals and 9 structures fell under financial restrictions and a ban on entry into the country. In particular, Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich fell under the sanctions.
