SwissDinner makes Swiss professional chefs sweat for the 10th anniversary

(Zurich) (PPS) After the successful bachelor’s edition for the 100th anniversary of the season, SwissDinner is going one better for the 10th anniversary of the broadcast. For the first time, selected professional chefs are dueling in the most exciting cooking challenge in Switzerland. TV chef and restaurant entrepreneur Erik Haemmerli changes fronts for once and faces the trained Swiss chefs Christoph Hartmann and Nadja Bühler in a tough duel. Who can stand up to the critical palate of chef and critic Jacky Donatz? The special edition with four episodes starts on Saturday, January 23rd.

Overcooked pasta, bland dishes or dry meat? Hopefully not this season! On the 10th anniversary, SwissDinner is celebrating another premiere, because for the first time professional chefs will swing the wooden spoon. Here perfection reaches new dimensions. Only one can win. But no matter who will take the victory home, the three chefs and Jacky Donatz use the winnings to cook for those in need at Pastor Sieber’s charity.

The cooking duel of the professionals

As a trained chef and long-time catering entrepreneur, Erik Haemmerli is not only firmly anchored in the Swiss gastronomy scene, he is also considered an absolute professional chef. In 2010 he won the “Best of Swiss Gastro Award” in the “Classique” category with his “Bederhof” restaurant, and in 2012 he took second place in the “Outdoor” category with the “Fischstube”. He has been the face of the SwissDinner program since 2010 and, as a critic, keeps a close eye on amateur cooks. How does the Zurich man do himself in a duel?

Christoph Hartmann cooks with a lot of passion, joy and commitment. After his culinary apprenticeship and further training at the hotel management school Belvoirpark, he worked as a restaurant manager and managing director in various restaurants, where he won the audience award “Best of Swiss Gastro” in 2012 with the steakhouse at Marina Lachen. Today Christoph Hartmann works for the Brühlgut Foundation. Will he overshadow his fellow competitors?

Nadja Bühler is not only talented at the stove, she also has a good knack for numbers. The trained cook completed her training as a qualified hotelier at the age of 21 and then worked in the 15 and 16 GaultMillau restaurants “Sonne” in Hüttwilen as Chef de Partie and in the “Flühgasse” restaurant in Zurich as Chef de Service. Today she is self-employed in consulting for finances, administration and online marketing in the catering industry. Will Nadja Bühler be able to put on the crown of cooking in the end?

The professional chefs are rated by star chef Jacky Donatz. Among other things, he worked as a chef at the Castello del Sole in Ascona, the Hotel Carlton in St. Moritz and the Grand Hotel Tschuggen in Arosa. As the host of the Sonnenberg restaurant, he has already cooked for celebrities such as Roger Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rihanna and rock star Jon Bon Jovi. For the man from Graubünden, cooking is not just a job, but rather a calling with many facets. Whose cooking skills manage to knock the critic off the stool?

Nicole Himmelreich, head of entertainment programs CH Media: “For once, our SwissDinner chef Erik Hämmerli is not looking for a fly in the ointment of the candidates, but has to prove his own culinary skills. I’m curious and would like to eat right away. At the same time, I am pleased that we can further develop our “SwissDinner” format in this way. ”

Turn to the stove – the knives are sharpened! Who will achieve the desired level of perfection and win the most exciting cooking challenge in Switzerland?

The 101st season of SwissDinner starts on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 6:20 p.m. on the regional TV channels TeleZüri, TeleBärn, Tele M1, TVO and at 6:30 p.m. on Tele 1.
