From Bern to Lviv: This Swiss tram will soon be running in the Ukraine – as a gift
The city of Bern scraps trams. Eleven of these are to go to the Ukrainian city of Lviv. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) is therefore in contact with the local authorities.

Because they will become superfluous and would otherwise have to be scrapped, Bernmobil would like to deliver eleven trams to the Ukraine.
According to Seco, it is currently being clarified whether the trams could run in the Lviv network.
For the city of Bern, 27 new compositions, so-called tram links, are to be put into operation – starting in November.

“The Seco is in contact with the city of Lviv because of these Bernmobil trams to be discarded,” confirms Seco media spokesman Fabian Maienfisch. “The city of Lviv is currently carrying out the first technical clarifications as to whether the trams can generally be used in Lviv.”
The challenges are both technical and operational. “If the continued use of the trams in Lviv is technically feasible, makes economic sense and is desired by Lviv, Seco will examine transport options,” says Maienfisch.
27 tram links for Bern
For the city of Bern, 27 new compositions, so-called tram links, are to be put into operation – starting in November. Tests have been running since February. The tram links were produced by Stadler and should be more comfortable for the passengers, more barrier-free and quieter. According to Bernmobil, the purchase is the largest investment in the history of Bernmobil.
