Swiss trains get a boost from tennis star Roger Federer and comedian Trevor Noah

Switzerland Tourism posted Thursday on all social networks its latest advertising clip with the “Master” of tennis Roger Federer. He discovers Swiss trains alongside Trevor Noah, American television star and comedian, to attract American tourists.

For the past two years, Roger Federer has been entrusted by Switzerland Tourism with the mission of bringing American tourists back to the country.

He first started with Robert De Niro in May 2021 by inviting him to his chalet in Zermatt to try to convince him to come and shoot an advertisement for Switzerland alongside him. The actor with the 7 Oscars refuses, but the 90 seconds passed in FaceTime with him make the buzz: 53 million views only on YouTube.

A year later, the tennis champion shot a commercial with Anne Hathaway, the actress made famous for her role in “The Devil Wears Prada”. The audience explodes: the 2 minutes 10 of this clip are 103 million views on YouTube.

“It is very important in terms of notoriety for Switzerland in a very competitive post-pandemic context”, notes Véronique Kanel, spokesperson for Switzerland Tourism, in the 7:30 p.m.

Humorous advertising

In 2023, Roger Federer invites Trevor Noah to come to Switzerland. The latter is a star of the One-Man Show, presenter from 2015 to 2022 of the Daily Show on the Comedy Central channel and host of the last three Grammy Awards ceremonies.

“He is very well known internationally. He is also particularly well known in Africa since he is half South African and half Swiss. Exactly like Roger Federer”, notes Véronique Kanel.

“We mainly target the American market, but also Asian ones such as Korea, India and Southeast Asia,” she adds.

The 3.50 minutes of video show the two stars who have to get on a train to shoot an ad for Switzerland Tourism, but they are on the wrong platform…
