“Swiss Smartphone Market Sees Increase in Demand for High-End Devices, According to Samsung Director”

Bern (awp/ats) – Demand for smartphones costing more than 600 Swiss francs has increased, while demand for cheaper smartphones has fallen, according to Samsung Switzerland director Dario Casari. The electronics group, on the other hand, sold fewer smartphones in Switzerland.

The growth in the high-end segment concerns the entire market. “It must be said that two suppliers de facto share the Swiss market,” continues Mr. Casari in an interview with NZZ am Sonntag, without citing the competitor Apple. Above all, more powerful cameras and better batteries are in demand.

On the other hand, the Swiss keep their smartphone for an average of 27 months, which is three months more than two years ago. The local clientele is part of the “early adopters”: they want new things right away and are ready to pay for it.
