The Swiss skier Lara Gutová-Behramiová definitely won the big globe for the overall evaluation of the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup and also the small one for the giant slalom.
To confirm both globes, it was enough for her to finish in the top fifteen in today’s giant slalom. She chose to drive to be safe, she was eighth in the first lap, and after reaching the finish line in the second she was in fourth place.
“It’s unbelievable. The giant slalom has always been very important to me. I was very nervous, I wanted to win it, but today I didn’t have a good day. The first round was not according to my expectations, and in the second I played it safe and calculated which one I had to finish and how many points do i need
Basically, I didn’t care if I was first or fifteenth. I skied very badly, but the most important thing was to confirm both globes. I hope that many fans will come next weekend and support all the skiers.” stated Gutová-Behramiová into the FIS microphone.
Finally, she finished in tenth place and scored 26 points, so she ended up with 771 points in the giant slalom ranking, the second Federica Brignoneová has 750 points after today’s triumph. Sara Hectorová finished third with 583 points.
Petra Vlhová finished eighth in the giant slalom with 297 points.
In the overall ranking, Gutová-Behramiová currently has 1,680 points, Federica Brignone, who has 1,472 points, came in second place. She thus got ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin, who is third with 1,409 points.
There is one downhill and one super-G left before the end of the season, in both of which Gutová-Behramiová can win a small globe. In the downhill, she has a lead of 19 points over Sofia Goggio, who is injured, and 68 points ahead of the third Stephanie Venierova.
In the super-G, she has 69 points ahead of the second Cornelia Hutterová and 74 points ahead of the third Federica Brignone. The Super-G is scheduled for next Friday, March 22, and the downhill the day after.
