The EU’s external border is bubbling. The Pazarkule border crossing around five kilometers from the Turkish border town of Edirne has been besieged by refugees for days. You have only one goal: Europe. The precarious situation in the border area with Greece is a feast for right-wing propaganda. Because not only refugees, but also neo-Nazis are drawn there.
–
BLICK research shows: Swiss right-wing extremist Ignaz Bearth (36) also went to Edirne in Turkey last week to report on the refugee crisis on his right-wing extremist YouTube channel. “I got my first impressions, looked at the people,” Bearth says in a video message from Thursday.

Unknown whereabouts, cell phone confiscated
Ignaz Bearth is well networked in the extreme right-wing scene. As a former speaker of Pegida Switzerland, he appeared at events in Germany and Austria and has been a member of the Nationally Oriented Swiss Party (Pnos) for years.
–
In the right manner he agitates against migrants, tells in his YouTube videos from Turkey about his encounters with “economic migrants”. For example, claims to have met a young Moroccan who had traveled to Turkey from his homeland to come to Europe, but the Greek police had not let him through.
–
Ignaz Bearth also meets the police – only two days after entering Turkey. He was arrested in Edirne on Friday afternoon. According to his partner Lilly S. *, several police officers arrested him while he was eating with a colleague. His cell phone was confiscated. He was allowed to make a call from the prison. This went to his partner.

«I have no contact with him»
Bearth’s life partner Lilly S. comments on the arrest in a video message. “Darling, I was arrested by the police in Turkey,” Bearth said on the phone. The Turkish police knew where he was, knew which hotel he was in.
–
«I have no contact with him. I only know that his last place of residence was Edirne, »says S. It is unclear exactly where Bearth is being held. S. already contacted the Swiss embassy on Friday. She was told that a suspect can be detained by the police for up to 72 hours.
–
The reason for the arrest was said to be an insult. Apparently Bearth Erdogan is said to have verbally attacked and criticized him. At the request of BLICK, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) has not yet been able to confirm Bearth’s detention. “However, the clarifications are ongoing,” said EDA spokesman Pierre-Alain Eltschinger.

Refugee center flared on Lesbos
The mood on the Turkish-Greek border has been heating up for days. A week ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (66) opened the border to Greece and Bulgaria. Over 75,000 refugees started to move towards Europe. Five days later, the situation on the border with the Turkish city of Erdine escalated.
–
Greek border guards open fire on the refugees. A Syrian is killed in a hail of bullets. Six other refugees are injured “with live ammunition”.
–
The situation is also precarious on the Greek island of Lesbos. The community center of the Swiss aid organization “One Happy Family” was set on fire on Saturday evening (LOOK reported). The center should serve as a meeting point for refugees. But now it’s burned down. Right-wing extremist groups are suspected to be behind the fire attack. Aid organizations have been increasingly threatened in the past week.
