Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler Advances to Second Round as Russian Opponent Retires

The abandonment of the Russian Alexander Shevchenko allowed the Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler to climb to the second round of the Winston-Salem tournament in Winston-Salem on Sunday evening. The score was 6-3, 4-6, 4-0 when Shevchenko, the world’s 88th ATP player, was unable to continue the game.

Huesler, 86th in the world at the ATP, will face the No. 12 seed Richard Gasquet in the second round of the Winston-Salem Open.
