In Group A, which takes place on the ice rink of the Olympic Sports Center, Switzerland beat the Czech Republic 5: 2 (1: 1, 2: 0, 2: 1).

It has already been reported that the second success in Group A on Saturday was celebrated by the OKR unit, which destroyed Great Britain by 7: 1 (4: 1, 1: 0, 2: 0), but the Danish national team took care of the surprise with 4: 3 , 3: 2, 1: 1) defeated Sweden, scoring three goals for Niklas Jensen in favor of the winners.
In group B, in which Latvia also starts, in the second game of the day, Finland beat the USA 2: 1 (0: 0, 2: 1, 0: 0).

The Latvian national team will meet with Kazakhstan in the group B duel “Arena Riga” at 20.15, broadcasting the match live on the 7th channel of Latvian Television.
On Monday, Latvia will meet with Italy, after a two-day rest on May 27 there will be a match with the USA, the next day Norway will face off, on May 30 there will be a fight with Finland, and on June 1 – with Germany.
The 16 teams participating in the tournament are divided into two groups of eight units each, which guarantees seven games for each team in the subgroup competition. After one round of group matches, the four best teams in each subgroup will continue to fight for medals in the quarterfinals, but the weakest teams in the tournament will not leave the elite division this year.
Minsk and Riga had to host the 2021 World Championship this year, however, on January 18, at the IIHF Council meeting, Minsk was deprived of the rights of the organizers of the 2021 World Championship. In February, the IIHF Council voted to approve Riga as the sole organizer of the 2021 World Hockey Championship.
