“Without the politically imposed reduction in reserves, premiums would only have increased by around 2.5% per year and per person in recent years, and would currently continue to rise within this range,” said health insurance expert Felix Schneuwly. , quoted in the Comparis statement.

Reasons for increased costs

Reasons for rising costs include the Covid-19 pandemic, increased bureaucracy, increased unavailability of affordable medicines, increased psychotherapies, start-up assistance initiative, as well as the increased treatment for the uninsured.

prices will stabilize

However, these cost fluctuations are expected to level off. According to Schneuwly in the Comparis statement, the cost of medical services covered by basic insurance will stabilize at around 3% in the coming years.

The actual increase in health insurance premium prices in 2024 will be announced in September.
