Switzerland is defeated by France in the first of two international matches
The weakened women’s national team shows an attractive performance, but still loses the first of two international matches in Metz against France with 0-2.
After just twelve minutes, the Swiss were behind after 1.87m tall defender Wendie Renard headed a free-kick cross to make it 1-0. After that, the relatively inexperienced team of national coach Nils Nielsen fought against the number 3 in the world – also thanks to some good saves by goalkeeper Gaëlle Thalmann. Shortly before the end, Perle Morroni decided the game with the 2-0.
Half a dozen regular players were not available to Nielsen because, among other things, the legionnaires from England around captain Lia Wälti were not allowed to enter France due to corona restrictions. On Tuesday, the two teams will compete again in Metz at 9:10 p.m.
