The Tui Gen Z City Index shows that Swiss cities such as Bern, Zurich and Basel are among the top veggie hotspots in Europe. The nightlife is also impressive: Geneva, Bern and Zurich are among the leading techno strongholds in Europe.
Around 44 percent of Gen Z – born between 1997 and 2012 – prefer city breaks as a form of vacation, reports Tui. The travel provider has now published the Tui Gen Z City Index.
To do this, the travel provider compared over 70 destinations according to ten “Gen-Z-relevant” categories, including the number of shopping malls, vegetarian and vegan restaurants, TikTok hashtags, but also LGBTQIA+ friendliness and public transport prices. [RELATED]
Green wave in Swiss gastronomy
Switzerland stands out particularly in the area of vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Bern takes first place in the veggie hotspots with 106 vegan or vegetarian restaurants, followed by Zurich in second place with 101 restaurants. Third place goes to Porto in Portugal with 77 restaurants. In fourth place is another Swiss destination: Basel with 74 restaurants. Western Switzerland is also among the top ten veggie hotspots in Europe: Geneva is in tenth place with 55 vegan or vegetarian restaurants.
The Swiss nightlife is also impressive, as the index shows. Three Swiss destinations are represented among the top 10 techno strongholds in Europe: Geneva in 6th place, Bern in 8th place and Zurich in 10th place. (mm)
