On Saturday February 3, Waisenhausplatz in Bern was transformed into a huge open-air bakery. The artisan bakers from BakeryBakery have taken over the place to attempt a world record. This is how the world’s largest vegan pastry shop was born.

This monstrous pastry baked for around ten hours, continuously passing through three ovens lined up next to each other. Countless little hands then decorated it with pieces of hazelnuts and liquid chocolate to make it a real pain au chocolat. A whole day of preparation, before the fruit of these efforts is weighed in the evening before an official jury of the Guinness World Records.

To do this, the tables on which the pastry rested were lifted by a forklift. To obtain the world record, the pastry had to weigh at least 200 kilos. An objective duly fulfilled since the monster still weighed 263 kilograms, distributed over a length of 22.75 meters.

The BakeryBakery chain of bakeries is located in Zurich, Bern and Basel, with the particularity of only using products of plant origin. The company embarked on this world record attempt to promote their crowdfunding campaign. After the official recognition of the world record by the jury, the entire pain au chocolat was entirely distributed to those present on site and to humanitarian organizations, in order to avoid any food waste. After three months of adventure, the verdict is in. Pierre was chosen by the public and wins this season of Star Academy.

Star Academy 2023 is over! Saturday evening, Pierre won, pocketing a nice trophy, a contract with the record company Sony Music, as well as a check for 100,000 euros.
