Swipha Recalls All Batches of Polyfort Suspension – NAFDAC Investigates Indomie Noodles Recall
In response to global safety concerns, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has initiated an investigation into the recall of Indomie noodles by authorities in Taiwan and Malaysia. NAFDAC’s Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Directorate has begun sampling Indomie noodles, including the seasoning, for ethylene oxide, the compound of interest. Additionally, NAFDAC is sampling spices used in Indomie and other noodles to ensure they are safe. It should be noted that Indomie noodles are banned from being imported into Nigeria, and NAFDAC is cautioning against smuggling of the product and taking extra measures to detect and prevent this.
In related news, SWIPHA has announced a recall for all batches of Polyfort Suspension due to negative trends seen during an ongoing stability study. This remedy for constipation, heartburn, and over-acidity is being recalled from distributors and customers as SWIPHA carries out further investigations. All Polyfort stock should be returned to SWIPHA’s medical or sales representatives.
