St. M. – Today at 11:00

Be careful, things are going to be swinging this October in the Longwy area. Indeed, several dates of the Nancy Jazz Pulsations festival make a stopover in the Pays-Haut Meurthe-et-Mosellan conurbation, with concerts from October 4 to 21 in different locations. From the smallest, Laix, where a gospel concert will be given in the village hall, to the largest, Longwy. The event will also stop at Mont-Saint-Martin, Hussigny-Godbrange, Chenières and Herserange.

Big news this year, two dates have been announced beyond the borders with a concert by Judith Hill at the Aubange cultural center (Belgium) on October 13 and October 19 at the village hall of the Saint-Hubert home in Pétange (Luxembourg). ) on October 19.

About ten dates

During this time, several concerts will be given in the city. With different tones of jazz, blues but also rock. A whole program with around ten dates to choose from. In 1980, a stage was decentralized to the Elsa-Triolet hall in Longlaville. Last year, three dates were on the bill, there are ten on the program this year.

Concerts for the general public are associated with events aimed at schoolchildren and college students. A day will welcome children from the Medical-Educational Institute (IME) on October 19 in Chenières. Around forty children attend school there. An intergenerational day is scheduled for October 19 at the accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) in Hussigny-Godbrange.

“Varied edition”

On October 17, 50 years of hip-hop will be in the spotlight at the IUT with the Agoro collective made up of rappers from Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, Ghent and Ghana. Hip-hop writing workshops in English will occasionally be offered to a second year class and to a group of IUT students. The group will perform on stage in the evening. All concerts are free.

“Until recently, this did not exist. For two years, it’s been coming back and it should stay. We are proud of this very varied second edition, both musically and geographically,” notes Serge De Carli, president of the Greater Longwy Agglomeration.

“There are a lot of different things. We were very well received by Aubange and Pétange. They welcomed us very well and were eager to join us,” underlines Véronique Furgaut, vice-president of the Agglomeration.

“Vector of happiness”

From October 4 to November 29, the photographs of Luxembourger Raymond Clement will be exhibited at the media library. This has followed the Nancy Jazz Pulsations festival for fifty years. He photographed the greatest jazz players of the festival. He created an exhibition, Family of jazz, which toured the world. She will be in France for the first time.

“Often, culture is the variable in adjusting budgets. On the contrary, we consider that it is the vector of happiness. It is essential in an individual’s life. It is a tool for acquiring freedom. Our goal is to bring culture to citizens,” concludes Serge De Carli.
