PES allows swimming pools to be opened from the third stage under the same conditions as for other mass events.

For indoor events and indoor pools, a capacity of 10 people will be allowed in the third stage, 50 people in the second and 100 in the first.

Although Chief Hygienist Jarmila Rážová and the National Sports Agency are preparing to supplement the PES system with a special table for sports, its parameters are not yet known. It is also not clear whether the new parameters will be more favorable for swimming pools.

According to CUCR, government measures affected 1,150 operators with more than 17,000 employees with an annual turnover exceeding eight billion crowns. The announcement of the closure by the government in the spring and autumn, just one day in advance, also contributed to the deepening of losses, warned the president of CUCR, Viliam Sivek.

According to the union, swimming pools are not only facing a loss of sales. Many technologies have to be kept in operation at high cost even at the time of closure. According to CUCR estimates, Czech pools also had to drain at least 400,000 cubic meters of water due to coronavirus and government restrictions.

According to CUCR, state support for swimming pools is minimal. Operators could use the Antivirus employment support program or apply for a commercial rental grant.

CUCR and the Association of Medical Spas and the Association of Pools and Saunas of the Czech Republic are proposing the creation of the Covid Pools program. Compensation could be calculated, for example, from last year’s sales.
