“Through artificial intelligence (AI) technology, we will pave the way for anyone to become a painter or emoticon writer.”
After meeting recently with Maeil Business News, Song Min and Shin Jong-seok, co-founders (CEO) of OnomaAI, stressed that “AI can lower the barriers to art entry and make a new breakthrough for human creativity “. Onomaei, founded by two people, has developed an “Ikonoki” platform that creates a related image (icon or image) “with one click” when a person gives an idea through artificial intelligence. CEO Song is a library and information science professor at Yonsei University and an expert in natural language processing. He developed specialized artificial intelligence for creating images by learning more than 1 million icon data and CEO Shin, who paid attention to the technology, fully supported it and released the actual service to the world. In particular, the OnomaAI research team led by CEO Song is researching a technology that AI transforms the created icon into an artwork.
Iconoki, recently unveiled to the public, is Onoma AI’s first project (platform), which uses an AI model trained on 1 million icon data after learning 400 million images, including △ image creation △ research △ editing △ artwork. . Through this, anyone with no talent in art can create their own image. For example, if you enter a verbose command such as “a boy swimming in the sea on a sunny day”, you can complete a picture. It only takes 10-20 seconds to create a completely new image like this. CEO Song said: “The ‘create’ feature that automatically creates an icon for a search term entered by a user is a completely new service that has not previously been proposed by other companies. It used a template that it learned latent diffusion) and has the particularity of being able to create icon-shaped images ”.
The company is planning its business thinking about the foreign market since the development phase of the service. CEO Shin said, “Image generation technology using artificial intelligence can be applied to various fields such as webtoons, advertising and entertainment, as well as emoticons,” he said.
Iconoki opened the service to the public for the first time. Anyone can use the service for free simply by logging in. This is a move with AI advancement and service expansion in mind. The field we are targeting first is the “image search” market. A service equipped with Iconoki provides an icon created by the user as a result of the search. A cross-modal search technology is applied to the search system, capable of processing various types of data. This means that both text and image searches are possible. CEO Song explained: “When we create content such as YouTube video production and presentation materials, we often spend a lot of time searching because there are no suitable images.
Currently, the market has grown to more than 10,000 emoticon creators, and there are constantly instances where emoticons turn into intellectual property (IP) of a character. CEO Song said, “If we develop editing and artistic capabilities through artificial intelligence, we believe various IP projects will be possible and we are opening up various collaborations and business possibilities.” In fact, Onoma AI has also conducted a project to exhibit works of art created through AI technology. CEO Shin added: “There is also a plan to sell the created ICON to the non-fungible token market (NFT).
CEO Song, who primarily studied AI, text mining, and biomedical literature mining as a professor at Yonsei University, said, “If we use AI’s home technology well, we will be able to make the future world a better place. integrating human skills. ” he explained why.
