(ANSA) – MADRID, 03 APR – It is a continuous flow, they arrive by swimming, defying the rough sea and the storms, clinging to the inner tubes of inflated tires or with fins, to cover the stretch of sea from the Moroccan coasts to Spanish enclave of Ceuta: at least 288 minor migrants arrived in Spanish territory in the first three months of the year, compared to the 43 who arrived in the same period of 2023, equal to an increase of 550%, according to data released today by the government of the autonomous city. Most of those who manage to round the Tarajal and Benzu border cliffs are between 16 and 17 years old and are largely male, as only two of the 288 teenagers who swam in were women. The government of Ceuta, led by the People’s Party, reports the overcrowding of the reception facility for protected minors, the La Esperanza centre, which recorded 43 arrivals of minors in January, 150 in February and 90 in March, having capacity to accommodate a total of a hundred people. He therefore calls for urgent intervention from the Spanish state to be able to redistribute minor migrants to other regions of the Iberian peninsula. (HANDLE).
