Swimmer María Bramont-Arias qualifies for Paris 2024 in the Open Water modality

The national swimmer, María Alejandra Bramont-Arias, was confirmed by the Peruvian Swimming Sports Federation (FDPN) as qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in the Open Water modality.

The member of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), will be the first national representative of Open Water to compete in the largest global multi-sport event, since the World Aquatics offered the Olympic quota to our country.

The FDPN called Bramont-Arias due to his extensive experience and career, having participated in various world championships, such as Budapest 2017, Hangzhou 2018, Gwangju 2019, Budapest 2022, Fukuoka 2023 and Doha 2024, as well as having competed in several stages of the world circuit.

He also holds several South American titles, such as those achieved in Cali, Rosario and Buenos Aires; in addition to the junior world runner-up obtained in Eilat, Israel, in 2018.

“I’m still in shock. I feel that it is a second opportunity to reinvent myself, since I did not manage to access Tokyo four years ago. I am so grateful for the people around me, my family, especially my mom, and sharing it with them was my first reaction. Without a doubt, it is a dream come true,” said the swimmer from Spain, where she currently lives and trains, after her nomination for the next Olympic event was made official.
