Swimcenter Aquatic Center Permanently Closed: What Happens to Subscriptions and Refunds?

“Unfortunately, your Swimcenter is permanently closed.” These few words on the answering machine of the Swimcenter aquatic center are the only response from Julie. The young woman, who paid an annual subscription to this space in Colomiers, does not know any more. “One morning I showed up, but the doors were closed. I searched on social networks, that’s when I realized that the Swimcenter was in liquidation,” says Julie.

The aquatic sports and wellness area will not reopen. Aquabike and aquagym classes will therefore no longer take place. In a video shared on social networks, the manager of the Swimcenter establishment wanted to clarify the situation. Moved, she addressed her customers: “The problems concerning the pool are more serious than expected. The company’s cash flow does not cover all the repairs,” admits the manager, with a tear in her eye.

More than €500 for an annual subscription

On the video which lasts a few minutes, around a hundred comments are addressed to the former owner of the place. We see many messages of support. But a question from several Internet users also remains unanswered. What will happen to the many customers who have subscribed? Each school year, the number of memberships for this type of fitness space jumps.

Julie bought a subscription in September: “I took out an annual offer, but I was only able to do a few weeks of sessions. During the first fortnight, I didn’t notice any particular problems. It’s just after I saw that the staff were concerned,” says the former customer who spent almost €500.

“No refund will be possible”

On social networks, when the closure was announced, some members sought to contact the former manager: “How do you think we can recover our subscription payment? I took it in September at 500 €, it still hurts,” reacted a former member. Like her, many people wonder if a refund is possible. “That didn’t stop them just before closing from selling us a package of 30 sessions. For some, it’s a big investment,” replies another customer.

Contacted on this subject by telephone, the Swimcenter did not want to provide information. It was once again on social networks, when a customer asked her the question, that the former manager provided information: “No refund will be possible. I am sorry,” she wrote.
