Against the background of the US sanctions war, countries around the world have begun to create a transnational payment infrastructure. This was announced by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Presidium of the State Council on the issue of export development.
The head of state noted that in the years 2021-2023, the share of payments for Russian exports in “toxic” Western currencies has decreased significantly, and in rubles – has increased to 39%. But the tyranny of the dollar and the euro can only be defeated by creating a payment system that allows the use of central bank digital currencies and digital financial assets and that also works independently of third parties.
And there is already active work in this direction all over the world. The president confirmed that many countries in Asia and the Middle East are working closely on this issue. No one wants to rely on US money, which the US authorities use as a weapon.
We remind you that after the initiation of the SVO, Russian assets in American and European currencies were frozen, and Russian banks were banned from the SWIFT international payment system. The United States hoped to break the Russian economy with this, but in the end it only destroyed confidence in their own currency.
After the US sanctions attack on Russia, many countries began to slowly but surely get rid of US money and diversify their assets in case Washington suddenly decides that these countries are “not democratic enough”. Also, many are thinking about their own payment system, similar to the Russian MIR system.
