Swiatek gets off to a great start in Fort Worth

Chicago (United States), 1 Nov. The Polish Iga Swiatek, number one in the world, made her debut this Tuesday at the WTA Finals in Fort Worth (Texas, USA) with a solid 6-2 and 6-3 victory against the Russian Daria Kasatkina, in a tournament that brings together the eight best players of the season.

Swiatek, winner of eight tournaments in her extraordinary season, including Roland Garros and US Open, proved to be intractable against Kasatkina, a rival she had already beaten earlier this year at the Australian Open, Dubai, Doha and Roland Garros.

The Pole took an hour and 22 minutes to take down Kasatkina, number eight in the world ranking, and she did it without breaking.

He made good breaks in the second and eighth game by winning the first set 6-2 and, once again, he put the second down with a first-round break on Kasatkina’s serve and defended it until the final 6-3 .

Swiatek, Kasatkina, American Coco Gauff and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia are part of the Tracy Austin group in Fort Worth, which started on Tuesday and ended on Saturday.

The other group, dedicated to Nancy Richey, sees the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the American Jessica Pegula and the Greek Maria Sakkari.

Only the first two of each group will play the semifinals, scheduled for Sunday, while Monday will be the day of the final.
