Our representative, who will take the position of a leader in the latest WTA listing, has been in a phenomenal form since the beginning of 2022. The 20-year-old played 26 matches before the match with Kvitova, of which she won as many as 23. This resulted in winning two titles. First, Świątek turned out to be the best in Doha, and then she was second to none in the extremely prestigious tournament in Indian Wells.
In this situation, it was hardly surprising that it was Raczynska who was the clear favorite in the match against Kvitova. The more so because the 32-year-old tennis player, although much more experienced, did not achieve great results this year. The beginning of the match, however, was a very even game, in which the games fell prey to the servers.
Everything changed at 3: 2 from the perspective of the winner of Roland Garros from 2020. Then our representative effectively scored the opponent and allowed her to write only one exchange on her account with her application. The break gave Poland a 4-2 lead, and a moment later, after a surely winning game with home service, the 20-year-old came close to winning the set by just one game.
In the next game, the two-time Wimbledon winner reduced the loss to the rushing Raczynska. However, she did not allow more Christmas. In the ninth game, the Polish tennis player sealed her victory in the set, which she closed with the result 6: 3.
The players started the second part of the duel with two quickly won service games. The third, however, was a fierce battle in which the fate of victory passed from hand to hand. In the end, the Czech girl turned out to be better, defending as many as four break points. In response, Świątek won her application to zero, leading to a 2: 2 draw.
A moment later, the Polish woman could enjoy the break. This time Kvitova was no longer able to defend herself against the attacks of the higher ranked opponent and had to recognize her superiority. Rushing Świątek did not intend to stop there and shortly after that she was leading 4: 2.
In the seventh game, Kvitova managed to bite back, but the next two games belonged to the winner of this year’s Indian Wells. First, the 20-year-old won her serve to 15, then broke the Czech woman to zero and in a beautiful style guaranteed herself a place in the top four of this year’s competition in Miami!
In the semi-finals, raszynianka will face Jessica Pegula. The 28-year-old American quite unexpectedly eliminated the favored Paula Badosa in the quarter-finals. Such a decision, however, is primarily the result of the health problems of the Spanish tennis player, who, after playing only five games, decided to stop the game and, after a medical consultation, surrendered the match. The entire meeting did not last even 20 minutes.
