Sweet King Goes into Liquidation: Cork Confectionery Company’s Closure

Sweet King is a confectionery company founded by a Cork influencer that quickly gained popularity across Ireland for its unique offerings. However, the company has recently gone into liquidation, leaving many customers shocked and disappointed. In this article, we will explore the rise and fall of Sweet King and examine the reasons behind the company’s financial troubles. From its humble beginnings to its downfall, this is the story of Sweet King.

Nathan Adams, a well-known influencer and businessman in Cork, founded Sweet King, a confectionery company. However, earlier this year, a special resolution was passed to wind up the company due to its liabilities. The decision was made at a meeting on January 24, 2023, and a liquidator, Myles Kirby, was appointed to wind up the company. Sweet King’s address was changed from Midleton to Kirby Healy Chartered Accountants in Dublin after the meeting.

Although Sweet King had over 80,000 followers on Instagram, the company’s official page deleted all posts and the account now reads “changing owners.” The company’s website is no longer online, with a note stating that it will be back soon. Sweet King’s Facebook page has been inactive for under a year.

Regardless, in 2021, Sweet King ran a pop-up shop on Winthrop Street in Cork city and temporarily operated a stall in Cork’s Marina Market in addition to selling goods online throughout Ireland. Mr Adams originally formed Sweet King in June 2020 and invested €100,000 in the former Xerox building in Little Island, Co Cork, to expand the company’s infrastructure and staff facilities. Sweet King’s stock came from Ireland, Belgium, the UK, and Spain and offered customers 21 varieties of candy.

After a successful first year in business, Mr Adams announced plans to more than double the company’s workforce by adding 25 additional personnel to its 23-person team. He also planned to open a second warehouse in the UK within the next six to nine months. Furthermore, he is listed as the director of companies, NDA Cosmetics and Na Promotion Holdings Ltd.

As we bid farewell to Sweet King, we can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness that this beloved confectionery company has come to an end. However, we also recognize the immense talent and innovative spirit that Cork influencer brought to the table when she launched this company. Even though it’s tough to say goodbye, we can only look forward to what she will bring to the table in the future, and await with excitement what other delicious treats may be in store for us. For now, we celebrate the legacy that Sweet King has left behind and wish all those involved the best of luck on their future endeavors.
