Swedish super talent historically – struck with the first A-team goal

The 16-year-old super talent Roony Bardghji is predicted to be the next big Swedish star. Last weekend, the outer forward made his A-team debut for Danish FC Copenhagen – but then he left the pitch goalless.

In today’s away match against Ålborg, however, Bardghji found the net. He got the ball on the right edge, walled with a teammate, folded inwards in the plane and fired a heavy distance shot that outsmarted the goalkeeper. The goal meant 2-1 for FCK after half an hour of play.

– It was amazing. It went fast, I came across and got the ball and suddenly it opened up completely in front of me. Then I thought I would shoot. It was perfect, says Bardghji about the goal to Danish TV3 +.

With 16 years and 13 days, Bardghji is also the youngest goal scorer in the Danish Super League of all time. Jeppe Kjær held the previous record with 16 years and 129 days, according to bold.dk.

FCK extended their lead to 3-1 before the end of the first half. It was also the end result when Bardghji was replaced by Isak Bergmann Johannesson after 80 minutes of play. The victory means that FCK now has one point up to one Midtjylland, which, however, has one match fewer played.

– It is obviously a fantastic feeling I have right now, I am incredibly happy – but at the same time very happy for the team’s sake as well. It was an important match, so being able to help the team with goals is the most important thing for me, says Bardghji to TV3 + after the match.

The Swede’s progress has created headlines about the future, but Bardghji tries to be here and now as much as possible.

– That (the future) is not something I think about. I just want to try to get as much playing time as possible here. I do not think of anything other than FCK when I stand here. I want to be in the starting eleven as much as possible and help the team win matches. That’s where my thoughts are now.

The national team captain Janne Andersson recently told Fotbollskanalen that Bardghji may soon be interesting for the Swedish A national team.

– I’ve seen him sometime in connection with youth camps. He is an exciting player, Andersson said and continued:

– At present, it is our national team captains for the youth national team who have the best control over him. But of course, a player who has so quickly risen to the level he did becomes quite quickly interesting to us as well.

Chelsea, Ajax, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are some of the big European clubs that are said to be keeping an eye on Bardghji. There have been rumors of a sale worth 100 million Danish kroner, about 140 million Swedish kroner, for the super talent.
