It was a Swedish gold double at the JVM today in Planica.

Evelina Crüsell, 19, and the great talent Alvar Myhlback, 17, both took home today’s 10-kilometer race in classic style.

– This is my best race I have ever done, says Crüsell to SVT after the race.

Earlier in the morning, Evelina Crüsell took it all home in today’s race. 17-year-old Alvar Myhlback did not want to be inferior and completely dominated among the men.

Crüsell crashed and came in fourth place the day before yesterday but seems to have been really hungry for revenge today. No one could beat the 19-year-old in the individual start. She won today’s U20 race by 8.5 seconds ahead of runner-up Gina Del Rio from Andorra.

Absolutely superior

Alvar Myhlback won crushingly by almost a full minute ahead of the runner-up. The rider, who is two years younger than most of his opponents, led from start to finish and no one could challenge the Swede.

– So damn wonderful, he says in SVT after the race.

Myhlback is already Sweden’s youngest World Cup debutant on the men’s side ever.

– An outclassing. A guy in his own division, says SVT expert Anders Blomquist in the broadcast.

First gold medal

Today’s result means Sweden’s first gold medals during the championship. Before the day, Anton Grahn had won a silver and Jonatan Lindberg won bronze.

Crüsell and Myhlback will compete together in the mixed relay, which is the final race of the championship, on February 11.
