Swedish singer Loreen, already winner in 2012 with the iconic song Euphoria, has been a favorite with the bookmakers for weeks with the song Tattoo. If she wins, she will ensure the seventh Swedish victory in the history of the Eurovision song contest. This puts the country on a level with record holder Ireland.
According to the betting offices, Finland is the main challenger. Käärijä participates in the rousing Cha Cha Cha and can become Finland’s second ever winner after Lordi in 2016. One of his four dancers is from the Netherlands: 32-year-old Jesse Wijnans.
Wijnans is getting a lot of attention from the Dutch press now that he has made it to the final with the Finnish entry. “I never really experience all that attention as a dancer, so it’s all very special and new to me,” says Wijnans. He is used to being in the background.
“Which is also fine, after all it is my job. But now I suddenly do a lot of interviews. I really like that the Netherlands is taking it this way and I feel very supported, even though I dance for Finland.”
Professional juries
In the two semifinals, eleven acts were eliminated last week, including Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper on behalf of the Netherlands. Tonight’s result is already half set. The professional juries of the participating countries already determined their distribution of points last night on the basis of the so-called second dress rehearsal, the dress rehearsal. Those votes count for 50 percent.
The millions of TV viewers determine the other half of the result during the live broadcast. For the first time, the whole world can vote.
The show features guest appearances from last year’s Ukrainian winner Kalush Orchestra and Briton Sam Ryder. He came second in 2022 and will perform in Liverpool with Queen drummer Roger Taylor. Under the name The Liverpool Songbook, Duncan Laurence, Mahmood, Netta, Daði Freyr, Cornelia Jakobs and Sonia sing a medley of songs that mean a lot to the city.
