King Carl Gustaf was the only one of the royal family to meet with Interior Minister Mikael Damberg and Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist. In addition to the 76-year-old queen, Prince Carl Philip would be present at the meeting, but he too was absent.
According to a representative of the Swedish court, the absence of both Silvia and Carl Philip was due to the fact that it was a physical meeting. Sweden is dealing with a significant increase in the number of corona infections. This has resulted in a tightening of the restrictive measures. Earlier, the stricter rules meant that Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel had to postpone their visit to Örebro from Wednesday.
Silvia was last seen in public on Saturday. Then she attended a memorial meeting with the king in the city of Uppsala. In the Queen’s agenda, a video meeting is scheduled for Thursday with representatives of her charity World Childhood Foundation. She will probably attend it from her study in Drottningholm Slott.
