The Department of Logistics of the Swedish Ministry of Defense (FMV) has signed a contract with the Finnish arms company Patria for the supply of a “significant amount of armored vehicles”, in particular new generation armored personnel carriers.
About this, as reported “European Truth”the Swedish Defense Ministry said in a comment SVT.
The BTR project is multinational: Finland, Latvia and Germany are participating in it, and the first two already have this armored vehicle.
The framework agreement concluded on Monday provides for the delivery of the first batch of new-generation Pansarterrängbil 300 armored personnel carriers in the amount of 20 units to Sweden in May. The cost of each of them is estimated at 11 million Swedish kronor (970 thousand euros).
It is expected that Sweden will receive several hundred of these vehicles for its Armed Forces.
“It will be a reliable, easy-to-operate machine with low maintenance costs. This creates opportunities for cooperation in the field of production, service, further development and sharing, or what we call interoperability,” notes FMV.
The Department of Logistics of the Swedish Ministry of Defense underlines the close defense cooperation with Finland on many levels, as well as “a great desire to deepen cooperation in the field of production.”
The Pansarterrängbil 300 has Swedish-made engines and armor and can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. Each armored personnel carrier can accommodate up to ten people, including a machine gunner. Armored personnel carriers can also be converted, for example, into medical vehicles, and have a high water permeability.
As reported, at the end of March, the defense ministers of Great Britain and Sweden recorded the intentions of London purchase fourteen Swedish self-propelled artillery mounts Archerto replace the equipment provided to Ukraine.
