Swedish man wanted after storming Congress

It has been almost a year since the sensational images from Capitol Hill graced the front pages of both national and international media.

Thousands of Trump supporters marched in the US Congress in Washington DC, where more than 50 police officers were injured and five people lost their lives.

New details and lawsuits are constantly emerging where people who took part in the storm get their punishment.

In July, a man from Florida sentenced to eight months in prison for having participated in the storming of Congress in January as it was the first unconditional prison sentence after the storming.

Despite the fact that several of the rebels have received their punishment, there are still more who are wanted by US intelligence services.

In several international media, and especially in the Swedish, one man in particular received extra attention. Pictures from the Congress showed a man walking around with a scarf from the Swedish city of Skellefteå around his neck.

The man has now been identified by the FBI, but the name has not yet been released. Huffington Post claims the man had a leadership role during the storm and According to the FBI, the man shouted “Freedom or death, sir” as he entered the area where Capitol Hill is located.

“Swedish scarf” is part of the indictment against Danny Rodriguez who allegedly shot police officer Mike Fanone with an electroshock pistol. The man is not mentioned by name in the indictment, which the Huffington Post has been given access to, but it is claimed that the man kicked open doors and opened documents inside offices in the Congress building.

Exclusive scarf

According to the marketing manager in Skellefteå, the scarf he had hanging around his neck was issued as a gift in 2017.

– We send Christmas cards to displaced Skellefteåborgers, and the card contains a link they can follow to receive a Christmas gift. We usually send out around 5000 Christmas cards and there are usually around 1000 gifts, so I would think that around 1000 scarves were sent out in 2017, Helena Renström told the Swedish local newspaper Norran.

Aftonbladet writes that the man must have sent an SMS right before the riots.

«On the stairs at Capitol Hill. It’s happening now. People have broken the barriers. The dispute has begun, “the message read Swedish newspaper.

He is also said to have shouted at insurgents inside the building.

“If you’re going to die, it’s going to be inside Capitol Hill.”
