Swedish Hockey Team Lineup Announced for Euro Hockey Tour Series – NHL Goalies and Champions Revealed

In the nomination for the last part of the Euro Hockey Tour series, there are three goalkeepers of the NHL – Filip Gustavsson with Jesper Wallstedt from Minnesota and Samuel Ersson from Philadelphia. The defense will feature 2018 NHL draft pick Rasmus Dahlin of Buffalo, Jonas Brodin of Minnesota and Marcus Pettersson of Pittsburgh.

Offensively, the Swedes have two-time Stanley Cup winner André Burakovsky of Seattle, Joel Eriksson Eko of Minnesota, Alexander Holtz of New Jersey, Isac Lundeström of Anaheim, Victor Olofsson of Buffalo, Lucas Raymond of Detroit and Fabian Zetterlund of San Jose.

The seventh pick of the 2020 draft, Holtz, who played 110 games in three seasons for the Devils in the NHL and collected 34 points for 19 goals and 15 assists, will make his debut in the national team of Sweden.

There are three world champions in the Three Crowns selection and they are all NHL players. Brodin and Eriksson Ek were at the victory in 2017, the gold from the competition a year later goes to Gustavsson, who did not participate in the competition then.

Among the other members of the announcement, defenders Oscar Fantenberg, Patrik Nemeth and Tim Heed and forwards Christoffer Ehn, Max Friberg, Joakim Nygard, Marcus Sörensen and Lukas Vejdemo have also started in the NHL.

With no experience in major international events, the team includes, in addition to rookie Holtz, defenders Heed and Filip Berglund and forwards Ehn, Vejdemo, Nygard, Felix Unger Sörum and Jonathan Lekkerimäki.

The Swedes enter the tournament on Thursday in Kloten with a match against Switzerland at home. After moving to Brno, they will face the Czech national team two days later at 4:00 pm, and on Sunday they will have a Scandinavian derby with Finland. The Euro Hockey Tour tables are four points ahead of second place Czech Republic.
